"Talkativeness is the throne of vainglory, on which it loves to show itself and make a display. Talkativeness is a sign of ignorance, a door to slander, a guide to jesting, a< servant of falsehood, the ruin of godly conviction, a creator and summoner of hopelessness, a precursor of sleep, the dissipation of recollection, the
abolition of watchfulness, the cooling of zeal, the darkening of prayer."
~St. John Climacus

St. Bonaventure wrote:
"I have come into religion to live not as others live, but to live as all ourt to live, in the spirit of the Institute and full observance of the Rule; for, at my entrance, the Riles were given me to read, and not the lives of others.
The Rules were then accepted by me voluntarily and as the basis of my life, and therefore I ought to observe them all exactly, although I should see that no one else observed them."

Funny quote
Thought for the day:
Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings...
we simply continue to fly, on a broomstick!!!
We are flexible like that.

What I am thinking about today.........
I am using "A Year with the Saints, A Virtue for Every Month of the Year" again this year. The virtue for this month is morification.
"Whoever wishes to be greatest among you shall be your servant, even as the Son of Man has come not to be served but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many." (gospel)
Today I shall do 5 little services for others without attracting attention.
*Sacred Heart of Jesus, may You be known, loved, and imitated.*
St Francis de Sales:
"It should be our principal business to conquer ourselves, and , from day to day, to go on increasing in strength and perfection. Above all, however, it is necessary for us to strive to conquer our little temptations, such as fits of anger, suspicions, jealousies, envy, deceitfulness, vanity, attachments, and evil thoughts. For in this way we shall acquire strength to subdue greater ones."
and, I really want to sew! Look at these neat notebooks - I am going to make some!

One of the funniest things I ever read.
Hello! Welcome to the Psychiatric Hotline,
your HMO's full service crisis intervention facility.
If you are obsessive-compulsive, please press 1 repeatedly.
If you are co-dependent, please ask someone to press 2.
If you have multiple personalitites, please press 3,4,5, and 6.
If you are paranoid-delusional, we know who you are and what you want.
Stay one the line.
We are already tracing your call.
If you are schizophrenic, listen carefully and a little voice will tell you which number to press.
If you are depressed, it doesn't matter which number you press.
No one will answer.
